Prepare for Surgery
If you have questions about your procedure, please call your doctor to make sure they are answered to your satisfaction. At your doctor’s office, you will be asked to sign an operative consent, giving your permission to perform the surgery. You also will be asked to complete a medical history. Your doctor will send copies of these documents to the surgery center.
For questions about the surgery center, please ask the nurse from Physicians Surgery Center at Alvarado who calls prior to your surgery. Typically, our nurse will call you at least one day prior to your surgery to help you further prepare and confirm your scheduled time for surgery. Our nurse will talk with you about your medical history, anesthesia experiences and any medications and supplements you may be taking. If you have not heard from us by 2:00 PM the day before your procedure, please call us at 619.269.9536
Our insurance specialist also will call to talk with you confidentially about your insurance benefits and any financial obligation you may be responsible for.
Prior to your day of surgery, please review Your Patient Rights, Privacy Notice and Advance Directives. Click here to download and review these notices. Or, you may get them from your doctor’s office.
Notify your doctor prior to your surgery if you experience any change in your physical condition, such as a cold or fever.
You must have family or a friend drive you home after surgery and stay with you through the night. If this is a problem, please notify your doctor or our center nurse when she calls.
